CEO-to-worker compensation ratio, USA 1965 – 2013

There’s an amazing increasing difference between both, obviously. And the tendency is also clear, so the question in this case is: what can average people do to reverse this unfair situation?

CEO-worker

In charting the amount of the surplus that ends up in the hands (or, if you prefer, pockets or bank accounts) of CEOs, the Economic Policy Institute finds that:

Repression during the coronation of Felipe VI

Hundreds of Spanish citizens were retained by police without any charge just for showing a spanish republican flag in Madrid during the coronation of Felipe VI. The regime didn’t want any picture of a republican flag in the multitude awaiting for Felipe’s car, so thousands of secret policemen were patrolling the streets that day.

Not many soanish media covered the protests, bot some of the outside Spain did:

The British recovery. No conundrum there… (4 graphs)

and probably it will never recover, that is what you get when you take all jobs and all investments to Southeast Asia

Real-World Economics Review Blog

The British economy has not yet recovered in any meaningful sense of the word. Production per capita is not back to historical levels, private debts are still sky-high, the number of crappy jobs is increasing and productivity is about 7 to 8% below ‘trend’ (a downward adjusted trend, that is), which is of course consistent with the increase of crappy jobs. Also, according to the PSE

The percentage of households who fall below society’s minimum standard of living has increased from 14 per cent to 33 per cent over the last 30 years, despite the size of the economy doubling. This is one of the stark findings from the largest study of poverty and deprivation ever conducted in the UK. Other key figures reveal that almost 18 million people cannot afford adequate housing conditions; 12 million people are too poor to engage in common social activities; one in three people…

Felipe the usurper is not our king

“We don’t want them to think we are like babies, that we can’t decide what we want. We don’t want a king, we want to choose,”  The anti-monarchist movement, born out of frustration with the political system, corruption, and unemployment, sees Spain’s royal family, which has seen its popularity drop after a spate of scandals over the last three years, as a main part of the problem. The protesters see taking to the streets in a demonstration of people power as their only option, as both the ruling right-wing Popular party and the centrist Socialist opposition – which will oversee the transition in Parliament – are overwhelmingly in favor of keeping the monarchy.

In Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia – which is seeking complete independence from Madrid – thousands also flooded the streets to proclaim a republic.Activists, shouting “Dear Felipe, nobody has chosen you,” swore to pursue independence. Felipe will come to the throne as the government of the wealthy northeastern region of Catalonia is pushing to hold an independence referendum in November — a vote that is fiercely opposed by the central government in Madrid.

More than 100 snipers will protect Felipe the usurper

The Spanish family chosen by General Franco to continue his legacy will go on with their planned agenda. Like his father, Felipe the usurper has been educated to rule under the appearance of a democratic leader despite nobody has ever voted him in any election. To guarantee there will be no opposition in his coronation, thousands of policemen and military personal, included the worst of both worlds, will be watching the streets of Madrid hunting for democrats asking for a referendum. It seems the Spanish regime is a tad nervous of demonstrations against the monarchy when the new King Felipe the usurper is set to be crowned. Having declared it illegal to hold any form of anti-monarchy protest or demonstration, the government will be deploying more than 6,700 police and civil guard officers in and around the area during the proceedings. They even had to import around 4,000 officers from around Spain to swell the ranks, including hundred of snipers.

b  Whether they are trying to compare the average, ordinary and peaceful anti-monarchy citizen with terrorists is unclear, but security will be tight. In fact, in total, the Government Delegation in Madrid has banned two demonstrations and two concentrations coinciding with the proclamation of King Philip VI, as “incompatible with the safety of the acts of that day” and which they consider would present a “true” risk.
