Switzerland: tribute to the worker who accused the Spanish company “Zara” of paying only half salary to the Spanish workers in Zurich

A typical example of “Spanish Practices

The complaint served the Unia Swiss Union to prove that Zara paid wages below the minimum marking conventions of the sector to 40 Spanish workers who were hired in Switzerland. According to the complaint of the organization, they perceived much less than set industry agreements: between 900 and 2,000 euros compared to a minimum of between 3,690 and 4,510 euros. That amount was between “four to five times less than the salary of a Swiss citizen” for similar work, according to the law. Inditex (Zara owner company) rectified, and after three days of negotiations, the company agreed to double the salary of the Spanish workers and equate it to the Swiss workers.
